Avatars for Blake Polak

Blake's Professional Avatar

For an almost blindingly obvious reason, I chose the veterinary medical symbol as my professional avatar, due primarily to the fact that in my professional career, I plan on being a veterinarian. Although it can be important to establish some sort of personal relationship with a client in most fields out there, the medical field differs greatly, in general. It isn’t always a good thing to be a warm and cheery face. It can be very difficult to receive news regarding an inoperable tumor from someone with a smile on their face. With this in mind, I chose to leave the professional avatar faceless, so as not to equate a certain look on my face with an emotion that may be inappropriate at a given time. I also attempted to personalize it somehow by locating a symbol with green on it, my favorite color. In regards to the personal avatar, I had some difficulty deciding what to choose, but ultimately went with my current Yahoo! avatar, as it does convey a fairly reasonable depiction of me, while still remaining simple, and not a picture of someone else. In this image, I can be seen wearing black, my favorite color for clothing, as it is timeless and goes with just about anything. I also have a green background, illustrating my love for that color in general, with dollars in the background, indicating the fact that I do enjoy money (I’d make a horrible Buddhist, simply due to the fact that I could never give up my material possessions). I am also seen with a bulldog (my favorite of the choices for dog on Yahoo!). I dogs with the pushed in noses… I think they’re cute. Finally, there is a rainbow flag in the background, showing that I am indeed a homosexual, and rather open about it at that. All of these things individually don’t really mean anything, but by combining them together, you can get a reasonable image of what kind of person I am, although no single avatar could possibly convey that whole message.

Technical Difficulties

After following the directions given by Cat in an e-mail, describing the inclusion of images in a blog post, I was still only able to include a single image in this blog post.  Please find my professional avatar above, and a link to my personal avatar above, in .JPG format.
